Textual Solutions by Diane Oatley. 20 years' experience with language-related services

Diane Oatley was born and raised in the United States and has lived in Norway since 1982. She has a Masters Degree in Comparative literature from the Univesity of Oslo (Anglo-American and Scandinavian traditions). Following the completion of her studies in 1990 she has worked as a freelance translator, copywriter and dance critic/essayist.

Diane Oatley has now 20 years’ experience within the translation industry, and takes assignments within a wide range of fields, including Norwegian trade and industry, the arts and culture, social sciences, marketing, tourism and travel.

She has translated four published non-fiction titles and is a member of the Norwegian Association of non-fiction translators.

She has also worked for a number of years in-house as a project manager and editorial assistant at Index Publishing in Oslo, (formerly owned by the Norwegian Trade Council, now Innovation Norway). During the period 2001-2002 she had editorial responsibility for production of the magazine “Norway Exports”, which is an English language publication about and for Norwegian industry abroad. The position required both linguistic and journalistic expertise, as well as administrative skills.

As of 2003 Diane Oatley has worked with Index Publishing on a consulting basis as an editorial assistant, which has entailed writing company profiles and articles about Norwegian industry in English, and the translation and editing of materials from and about participating companies, and industry organisations.
